The PRINCESS CUT
is a Square or Rectangular Modified Brilliant Cut. This relatively new shape in the diamond manufacturing world has quickly become one of the most popular of the FANCY CUTS. This cut is very popular in engagement rings as a single solitaire setting or as a center stone in unique engagement ring settings and diamond wedding sets. The Princess Cut is used extensively as side or accent diamonds in wedding rings and as Princess Stud Earrings and Solitaire Pendants.
Because of the design of this stone it often has a depth percentage deeper than a Round Brilliant Cut stone yet because of a shallower crown, it can and often does appear larger than a Round Brilliant of comparable carat weight. The Princess is also used extensively in Diamond Bracelets and Necklaces and they are often set in Pure Platinum or 14 karat white gold and 14kt yellow gold.
