Last Christmas I had spent a lot of time researching where to purchase a nice diamond at the best price for a Christmas present. As I had never purchased one before, I read up on the qualities and explored both online and local retailers. Once you understand what to look for, comparing prices was not a difficult task. Online diamond merchants consistently came out with better prices, and this was very attractive to me because every dollar would count for me. The next dilemma was my fear of making a major purchase on an item I could not directly see and touch. There was no easy way to overcome this, except to spend a lot of time reading reviews online. In the end, I had to make a leap of faith and contacted Union Diamond via email. Acknowledging that I was pretty much at the mercy of Union Diamond Rep when it came to picking out a stone which fit the budget, I simply told him who it was for, why I was buying it, what qualities I was looking for, and requested his best professional selection technique. Resultantly, Tony spent the time to sort through over 40 candidates and recommended the one which stood out the most. In his words, it was "mathematically perfect in every way". What also impressed me was that I had told him my budget, and he actually recommended a stone that was significantly below my budget, based on the stone's quality and aesthetic appeal. This told me that he was not motivated to max out my budget, but to find me the diamond which closely filled my need. Resultantly, the ring turned out very well. Everyone who saw it was impressed by its quality and beauty. Those few whom I told the low price to were surprised and almost didn't believe me. In fact, my sister probably felt a little pissed that her engagement ring had cost a bit more! (She shouldn't know how much her engagement ring cost, but she always finds those things out..). Because the ring was a present for my mom, and I had skimped on the setting to spend as much as I could on the ring, my sister took the ring to a reputable local jeweler to give it a new (much more expensive) setting. The jewelers agreed that the diamond was indeed of very good quality, and even though the quality was "VS2", they said the actual inclusions were very small and extremely well hidden by the ideal cut, even under 10x magnification. In conclusion, all I can say is I will be calling up Union Diamond again when it comes time to shop for that engagement ring, because it worked out very well for my first purchase! While doing my ring shopping I went to numerous stores, and not a single one of them matched your level of service or personal touch. There was no pressure, and every question I had was answered quickly. When I tell people where I got the ring from they are surprised!
