Buying an expensive diamond on line
It's one thing to buy a computer on line but buying a $10,000 diamond without seeing it is a bit unnerving. I was obviously attracted by the price and I did some checking. Diamondreview. com was extremely helpful in selecting a vendor and being able to check the GIA certificate was the best assurance you can have.I only considered the top 5 rated sites. I talked to all of them and all were very good and helpful. I found Scott at Union diamond the best of all. He made me feel very comfortable about purchasing a stone and expertly guided me though the selection. The price was very good and shipment was very fast. What I received exceeded my expectation. The stone was absolutely beautiful and I collected a lot of brownie points from my wife and also my mother in law.I also had an experience with Union diamond after sale support. Since I could not ask my wife about the ring, I picked the wrong ring size. Up until last month, I'd resisted the worldwide trend to purchase things online out of fear over credit card fraud, dishonesty, etc...I wouldn't even renew a magazine online!Union Diamond changed my way of thinking. It's against human nature to buy something before seeing it, but think about it -- would you rather buy something at wholesale or retail price? And their $50,000 self-insured bond doesn't hurt, either. It protects against dishonesty.I bought my diamond online, but it didn't feel like it due to the personal service Union Diamond provides. It honestly felt like I was speaking with a guy down the street.

First transaction - my experience
Having searched various sites for my ideal diamond, I decided that the best value for money item was being offered by Union Diamond.I had concerns about my lack of knowledge of diamonds and about transferring large sums of money abroad (I live in the UK).Over the next week or so I had a number of email exchanges and telephone conversations with Tony Rixom who I found to be informative and helpful.He also gave me assurances about the security aspects of this type of purchase.Eventually I decided to take the plunge and transfer the money.When this arrived in the US, Tony confirmed its receipt and gave me a delivery date 3 working days later.The diamond arrived on time and was exactly as described with full supporting documentation.I would have no hesitation in using them again.
