It’s a Harry Potter Proposal!

I may or may not have said this before, but I love proposal stories. I mean, who doesn’t right? It’s especially nice when the hopeful boyfriend gets some great photos of the proposal itself. Keep this in mind guys because a proposal is a once-in-a-lifetime thing and she’s going to want to relive every moment for years to come. Unless you’re the girl we tweeted about yesterday that was proposed to after being arrested with her boyfriend. She said yes, but I’m still pretty sure the mug shots will be memory enough. Platinum: Pure. Rare. Eternal

For over three thousand years, platinum has been prized for its many unique attributes. Found in the tombs of ancient Egyptians, and used in jewelry by the Incas, precious platinum has a truly remarkable history. After being utilized by the Incas, platinum did not appear again until it was discovered by Spanish conquistadors in 1590. Thinking that it was a lesser metal, they called it ‘platina’ which means little silver, and threw it back into the river to “ripen”. Continue reading

Almost a century later, the Eggs are back!

Here’s a reboot for your Friday afternoon. This was one of the first posts ever published to our blog. Aren’t these eggs gorgeous?!

Fabergé announced in July, 2011 that they would be releasing two new collections of egg pendants, Les Fameux de Fabergé and Less Frissons de Fabergé. They range from the classical Train des Fleurs Egg, to the fittingly named diamond egg, samplings of which are described below. Continue reading

So today I followed a link that included ALL of those words, and found this awesome infographic on the most expensive jewelry ever sold at auction. I hope you enjoy it, and please try not to drool on your keyboards! Continue reading

What’s in a medal?

I don’t know about you all, but I was parked on the couch last night watching Team USA win gold in women’s gymnastics. There also may or may not have been some hoopla about some swimmer. I think his name was Phelps, but I’m not sure. Ok, ok, I know who Michael Phelps is. It would be pretty hard not to in this era of 24 hour a day connectivity. But we’re not here to talk about Phelps, we’re here to talk about the hardware that he and the fab five lady gymnasts are bringing home. Continue reading
