There’s “Something in the Ice”

Today feels like a ‘feel good story’ kind of day. And what better feel good story is there than a great proposal? If you answered, “A story about puppies snuggling” then yeah, you may have me there, but as this is a diamond and jewelry blog, there is an unfortunate lack of cute puppy subject matter. Maybe you all can circulate a petition asking that I include my puppy in more blogs, although I’m pretty sure that eleven hundred blogs about the decibel level of her snoring would get old. But anyways, even though there are no puppies, this engagement story is really sweet. Continue reading

One-in-a-million pink diamond blows past estimates at auction

We hope that you all had a great Memorial Day yesterday! As hard as it is to get back to work following a holiday, at least you can find some cheer in the fact that long weekends make for short work weeks! So to help us all ease back into the working world, I thought I’d start off the week with some color. Pink, to be exact. Continue reading

An American Idol Proposal!

Happy Friday everybody! Well, we made it through another week, and to celebrate, how about a really cute proposal story? To set the scene, it’s the American Idol Finale and the winner is about to be crowned. I won’t spoil that for any of you rabid idol fans who missed it. But as is the case with these results shows, an announcement that would take 30 seconds is dragged out to torturous lengths. And when you have nearly two hours of excess airtime, you’re going to need some famous people to fill the gaps. Continue reading

Don’t judge a book by its cover, or a diamond by its color

We like to ask our customers a lot of questions. They’re important because they help us to figure out exactly what kind of diamond you’re looking for. And when we ask the question, “What do you want your diamond to look like”, a lot of you reply “white and sparkly”. And for those of you who have educated yourselves about diamonds, you usually follow that with “an H or above in color”. Now, you’re by all means correct with your assumption that an H color and above diamond is going to be white, but you would be incorrect in assuming that anything below an H is going to be yellow. This dessert may cost 25 grand, but at least you get a golden spoon!

Has this ever happened to you? You’re sitting at your desk and all of the sudden it hits, the mid-afternoon chocolate craving. And no, that weird chocolate cereal by Special K is just not going to cut it. Does anybody actually eat that stuff? Anyways, I had chocolate on the brain as I was selecting the topic for today’s blog. And what could be better than one of Serendipity’s Frrozen hot chocolates. I had one for the first time in their Las Vegas location and it was a tour de force of chocolate deliciousness. But chocolaty deliciousness just isn’t enough to get you on the hallowed pages of this blog, no sir. But add some gold and diamonds and you’re in! Continue reading

Ladies, start those bicep curls now because you’re gonna need them!

Quick show of hands, how many of you have your cellphones on your desk right now? Yeah, that’s what I thought. I love my phone, Droid Incredible 2 by the way. I love the fully customizeable operating system and I get a big dorky kick out of the fact that when it’s raining outside there’s a little windshield wiper that clears away the “rain” from my phone. However, the one thing that I don’t like about it is that there are no diamonds, anywhere. Sure I have a lovely background of waving grasses, but what about the phone itself? It lacks a certain amount of sparkle. So to satisfy my diamond craving I turned to the trusty internet and found the most expensive phone in the world. I’ll give you three guesses as to what type of phone it is, and the first two don’t count. Continue reading

A million dollar fishing lure: Just what will they think of next?

Picture it, Sicily 1918. Golden Girls reference anyone? Anyways, picture it, it’s Monday and I’m surfing the web for interesting diamond related tidbits for this blog. This one, right here. Did you know that there are tons of blogs cataloging the ermm, for lack of a better term ‘eccentric’ ways that people spend their money? We’ve certainly covered quite a few examples in this blog and as my gift to you on a Monday afternoon; this post will be no different. *And for the record, I’m not actually in Sicily. Just thought you should know. Where was I? Oh yes. You see, I was planning for today’s post to be about Emeralds, May’s birthstone, but then I saw this and got completely distracted. Continue reading

Is this diamond dress a fabulous fashion or a fashion faux-pas?

The weather is getting warmer and it’s time to pull all of those summer dresses out of storage followed by a fit of sobbing in the fetal position when you see how pale your legs have become over the long winter months. Either that or you’re a redhead like me and are accustomed to your legs looking like you suffer from a mild case of albinism. But anyways, we all have cute dresses that we love, but that’s still not going to stop us from running to the stores to purchase the newest and trendiest of styles. Sorry guys, it’s just one of those necessities of life like oxygen, or if you’re in the south, air conditioning. Continue reading
