Looks good enough to eat, sort of.

So, it’s Monday again and I can hear you all moaning and groaning from here. So I decided to give you all a piece of virtual chocolate. You know, a spoonful of chocolate makes the Monday better, it worked in Mary Poppins, but then again, I think the words were slightly different and she also had a magical umbrella. I have no magical umbrella nor am I practically perfect in every way, so your mileage may vary on this magical chocolate offering. Continue reading

What will they think of next?

Who’s ready for another exciting chapter in the “They put diamonds where?” story? I know I am, and today’s post is chock full of diamond studded strangeness. It involves putting diamonds on a… wait for it… model. Ok, so now you’re probably sitting there with a really confused look on your face, but it’s all going to make sense when I tell you that they put diamonds on a model. As in, they literally attached them to her body.

A Titanic Mystery

As I’m sure many of you are aware, this weekend marked the 100 year anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. I’m sure you’re familiar with the story, there may or may not have been a movie about it. But suffice it to say, there was a really big ship, it hit an iceberg, and it sank. There I just saved you three hours and $11. But aside from all of that, It’s always interesting to hear the stories behind the actual passengers on the ship, especially when they involve possible buried treasure. Continue reading

World’s ‘Most Perfect Diamond’? We beg to differ!

The world’s most perfect diamond has been sold at auction. 44.09 carats, D in Color, and Internally Flawless in Clarity, the MVP of diamonds sold for quite a magnificent price, $7,474,500. That’s $169,528.2377 per carat exactly, yes, I checked. But let us all take a moment to absorb that amount. It is mindboggling that what is basically a rock, is selling for the equivalent of a single family home. Continue reading

Brangelina are engaged!

Well, its official, after seven years of dating and a basketball team’s worth of children, Brad and Angelina are going to tie the knot. And what does a celebrity engagement mean to us? Celebrity engagement bling that’s what! And let me tell you, this ring has been eagerly anticipated for years because, well, unlike other celebrity engagement rings that are all fairly uniform i.e huge, you never know quite what to expect from Brangelina. And can I pause for a moment to say that Brad and Angelina are lucky that their names smoosh together so well. My fiancé and I would create the moniker Raygan, which sounds more like either an insect killer or an industrial solvent, so not super catchy or romantic. Continue reading

Who says you can’t put diamonds on a mushroom?

Ah, it’s Thursday, which in the grand scheme of the week is a bit like your 20th birthday, nothing really happens and all you’re doing is celebrating being one year closer to 21. We’ve all been there, and now we’re here, on Thursday, just celebrating that we’re one day closer to Friday. So in that spirit of celebratory anticipation, I thought it would be fun to have another installment to what is rapidly becoming a subcategory on this blog called, “They put diamonds where?” It just never ceases to amaze me that not only are there people whose entire job I’m sure is to come up with these ideas, but that I can’t seem to figure out how to become one of those people! I’m creative; I can come up with the idea to bedazzle a toaster! But sadly, this post is not about sparkling toasters, although it would be awesome if it was, it’s about this.

When it comes to diamond color, is fact really better than fiction?

I love myths, and lore, and basically any type of story that begins with a long, long time ago. So imagine my delight when I stumbled upon a couple of legends all about how diamonds got their colors. I’m convinced that there is little in this world better than a marriage of legend and diamond. Now I know all of these stories are completely untrue, we know that boron creates blue diamonds, radiation causes green, etc. But there’s a quote from the musical Wicked that comes to mind, “Where I come from, we believe all sorts of things that aren’t true. We call it history… Continue reading
